Survivors include a daughter, Antoinette Taylor of Hammond; stepson, Anthony; son, Ambus Penn Jr. of Los Angeles; stepfather, Willie Gray of Hammond; nine brothers, Clarence and Alton Penn, both of Covington, Floyd and Ronald Penn, both of Folsom, Charles Penn of Oklahoma, Huey Penn of Los Angeles, Horace and Benjamin Penn, both of Georgia, and Anthony Craig Penn of Texas; two stepbrothers, Lindsey Ray Moore of Texas and Jerome Moore of Nebraska; six sisters, Clara Baham of Loranger, Hazel Penn Lewis of Covington, Rose Heisser of California, Leomie Wisham of Hammond, Gladys Penn of California, Tanisha Penn of Colorado; stepsister, Leona Faye Moore of Florida; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norris C. Penn and Bernice Penn Gray; stepmother, Eula Mae Penn; and three brothers, Donald, Dexter and Roy. The Rev. Jeff Hammond conducted the funeral Saturday at the Greater Starlight Baptist Church, Covington. Burial was at Hay Hollow Cemetery, Folsom. N.A. Mr. Penn was a member of the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival Board for 28 years, where he served as Chairman for the 1991-1992 Festival Season. He was a life member and past president of the Ponchatoula Jaycees. He also holds a lifetime membership in the Jaycees International where he served as a Jaycee International Senator. He is a Charter member of the Ponchatoula Lion's Club. Mr. Penn deeply loved and was devoted to his community by untold hours of hard work and dedication. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Beverly Perrin Penn; son, Chad Penn; daughter & son-in-law, Kristie and George "Chip" Rinker; step-son, Bobby Earl Stark; his heart and grandson, Blaine Thomas Penn; a very special child in his life, his great-niece, Ciara Elaine Pierson, 3 sisters, Joyce Hoover, Betty Prager, Shirley Pierson; mother-in-law, Delores Toney Perrin, his coffee drinking buddies, Doyle Hoover and Philip Rohner; his fishing buddy, Mark Wittie and his other family, the Strawberry Festival Board of Directors.
