Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn Barber and Ann Clausen; three sons, Holland Penton Jr., Joel Penton and Ray Penton; five brothers, Henry, Ray, Willis, David and Frank McDonald; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her three grandchildren; three sisters, Rena Thompson, Yvonne Purvis and Donis Hoyt; and two brothers, Andrew and Gene McDonald. A lifelong resident of Hammond, "Polly" was born in Kentwood on Sept. 19, 1916. She was 87. She was a cherished mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Timothy Ennis Penton Sr. and daughter-in-law, Gail Penton of Hammond, Maribeth "Beth" Penton Blanchard of Jefferson and Jeanie Penton Perkins and son-in-law, Donald Y. Perkins Jr. of Fairhope. She was the beloved grand- mother of Bernard Eble "Eb" Perrone II and wife Tiana Perrone of Alpharetta, Ga., Becki Danielle Perrone Laurie and husband Vincent Joseph Laurie of Mandeville, Timothy Ennis Penton II and wife Ashley White Penton and Suzanne Penton Deli, all of Hammond, and Kathleen Adele "Kate" Perkins and Jill Marie Perkins, both of Fairhope. She was the great-grandmother of Madelynn Nicole Laurie and Mia Isabella Laurie, both of Mandeville, and Brent Joseph Deli and Timothy Ennis Penton III, both of Hammond. She is survived by her sister, Margie Hyde Orand of Tampa, Fla.; brother, Raymond Hyde of Independence; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Polly was preceded in death by her husband, Ennis B. Penton; three brothers, Norman Hyde, James Minton Hyde Sr. and Samuel Bolivar "Bolly" Hyde Jr.; and parents, Samuel Bolivar Hyde Sr. and Maggie Starns Hyde. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hammond and a member of the Eastern Star. Polly worked with her husband, the late Ennis B. Penton, who was of Hammond, and helped to run their family business, the Penton Shell and Gravel Co., for many years. After leaving Hammond due to illness, she lived in the Beverly Eastern Shore Nursing Home in Fairhope for the last year and a half. Polly's family wishes to thank the staff of Beverly Eastern Shore Nursing Home for their outstanding kindness and care.
