DIED: March 18, 1969 Amite- Religious services for Clyde C. Pevey, who died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Helena Hospital, Greensburg, are scheduled to be held at First United Methodist Church, Amite, at 2 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Revs. William Blakley, John Casey and Francis N. Traylor with burial in Arcola- Roseland Cemetery. Military rites at the graveside. He was a native of Lawrence County, Miss., 72 years old, and a resident of Amite. He was also a retired dairy farmer and a veteran of World War I. Body will be at the residence after 4 p.m. today, five miles west of Amite on Woodland Road. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Palmer Pevey, Amite; a son-in-law, Alvin Rubin, Amite; two daughters, Mrs. Alton (Betty) Lee, Amite, and Miss Sylvia Jean Pevey, Zachary; a grandson, Thomas Pevey Lee, Amite; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Raby, Roseland and Mrs. Allen Fink and Mrs. June Russell, Amite. She was a lunchroom manager for the St. Helena Parish School Board and a native of Pine Grove. She was also a professional quilt maker. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Kibodeaux of Vinton; one son, L.J. Pevey of Pine Grove; one brother, Clarence McLin of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The Rev. Joseph E. Starns conducted the funeral Sunday. Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery, Pine Grove. Oresta Pevey, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 28, 2013. She was born and raised in Ponchatoula, LA. The daughter of Merlin and Doris Drude and older sister of Muriel Cassibry and Robert Drude. For 59 years, she was the loving wife of Reggie Pevey. Dear mother of three daughters: Janet, husband Terrill Collier; Diane, husband Terry Pepitone; and Susan, husband Tim McHugh. Also mother to four sons: Paul, wife Angela; John, wife Terri; David, wife Jeanette; and Dennis, wife Jerri. Honored and adored grandmother of 25, great-grandmother of 11 and friend to many, many more. She graduated from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing. She worked at Seventh Ward and Lallie Kemp hospitals. She also worked as Head Nurse at the Kemp Street Nursing Home. She continued her nurturing skills as she followed Reggie in his real estate career, helping many young families start their lives together. After retirement, she and Reggie enjoyed many trips together, their favorite being Oregon. Her devotion to family and faith will live in our hearts for generations. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made in Oresta Pevey's name to the St. Joseph Catholic Church "Generation to Generation" fund. Friends will be received Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am on Wednesday, with Fr. She was 85. Mrs. Pevey had been a current resident of Shreveport, and a former resident of Grand Prairie, Texas, Baton Rouge, and Roseland. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She formerly worked as recording secretary for the board of the Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana. She is survived by her two daughters, Eileen Pevey Vennum, of Grand Prairie, and Carolyn Francis Pevey and her husband, Thomas J. Jones, of Montgomery, Ala.; four sons, Joseph E. Pevey Jr., of Prairieville, Cary R. Pevey, of Holden, Richard W. Pevey, of Shreveport, and Jonathan B.
