She was born in Kentwood on Jan. 27, 1918, the 11th of 16 children. She married Frank T. Pickart in 1942, when he was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. She is survived by two children, Frank A. Pickart of San Antonio and Peggy Jane Pickart White of Metairie; a granddaughter, Tara A. White; and numerous nieces and nephews. She graduated with a degree in secondary education from Southeastern Louisiana University and a master's degree from Tulane University. She taught shorthand, typing and bookkeeping at Fortier High School in New Orleans until she retired in 1982. After retirement, she traveled extensively and wrote a family history book, "The Leas of Line Creek," which she dedicated to her mother, Mary Jane Wall. A wake will be held at Line Creek Baptist Church, near Kentwood, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service at the church at 10 a.m. Thursday. Interment in Line Creek Cemetery.
