A true Southern gentleman and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Arthur G. Picou Sr., 87, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Formerly of Ponchatoula, and a longtime resident of Gonzales, he was founder of Picou Builders Supply Co., a member of the Tri-Parish Mounted Posse since its inception and a Navy veteran of World War II. He also was a longtime local Lions Club member and supported Crippled Children of Louisiana through the Shriner's organization. He was an avid horseman and golfer. He and his wife of 49 years, Patricia B. "Pat" Picou, shared a passion for traveling the country in their motorcoach along with family and friends. He especially adored being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Matthew 5:12. Billie Picou died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006. She was 87, born in Maurepas and settled in Ponchatoula with her husband and children after World War II. She attended Southeastern Louisiana College after graduating as valedictorian of her high school. She became a licensed practical nurse in mid-life after participating in the first LPN class at Hammond Vo-Tech School. As a nurse, she devoted herself to the care of others. She was a wonderful cook and shared her bounty with many friends and family. She lived a rich and full life. In retirement, she shared her lifelong love of travel. As a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she shared herself and her resources with unending love and devotion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy J. Picou; their first-born son, Billy Roy; parents, Louis Ernest and Marie Octavia Picou Stephens; and siblings, Grace Jones, Muriel Hart, Edna Mae McCleskey Donaldson and Ernest Joseph Stephens. Mrs. Picou is survived by her son, Kenneth S. Picou; two daughters, Patricia Thomas and Vicki Picou; grandson, Douglas L. Thomas II; great-grandson, Douglas L.
