She was born on July 6, 1936 in Amite, daughter of the late Joseph Berlin and Virtie Lee Spinks Starns . She received a BS from Mississippi Southern University, and received her Masters plus 30 from Southeastern Louisiana University. Mrs. Pigott was a retired educator having taught for twenty-six years at Franklinton Elementary (fourth and fifth grades). She was a member of New Beulah Baptist Church. Surviving are her three siblings, Deborah Starns, Robert Edward Starns, Samuel James ÒJimÓ Starns, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She is preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lemons. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son in Hammond on Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until the Funeral Home Chapel Service at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Rev. L.C. Lloyd. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Wednesday, Dec. 31, from Geisler Funeral Home. Burial was in Ponchatoula Cemetery. Mrs. Pigott died Monday, Dec. 29, at her home. She was a Ponchatoula native. He was 85 and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, John S. and Octavia Hoover Pigott; and a sister at a young age. Mr. Pigott was past commander of the Am Vets in Springfield, a member of the Springfield American Legion, member and past member of the board of directors with Springfield United Methodist Church, a member of a Masonic lodge and was actively involved in community veteran services. KENNER - Ryder Zenor Pigott Jr., 79, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at his home. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II and was retired in sales from Standard Coffee Co. He is survived by his wife, Florence Monroe Pigott; one son, Ryder Z. Pigott III of Springfield; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Ryder Z. Pigott Sr.; and his mother, Antoinette Hoover Pigott Kennedy. The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula.
