She was born on Oct. 8, 1935, in New Orleans, the daughter of Dr. Luther and Ruth Dyson. She received her bachelor of science degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond where her father was president, her master's degree in biostatistics from Tulane University and her doctorate in epidemiology from the University of Texas School of Public Health. Connie published many articles on epidemiology, and prior to her retirement, was employed as a researcher for Dow Chemical Co. She is survived by her daughter, Susan McClimans Pennebaker and husband Ward of Houston; grandchildren, Andrew Dyson Pennebaker and Matthew Orr Pennebaker, both of Houston; a sister, Elizabeth Dyson Peyton and husband Robert of New Orleans; and a nephew, Robert Dyson Peyton and wife Mary of New Orleans. Connie was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Pirsig; and by her parents, Luther and Ruth Dyson. The family wishes to thank Livingston Scott for his many years of assistance. Funeral service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in Amite at 3 p.m. Saturday. Interment in Amite Memorial Cemetery. A memorial service will also be held in Houston on Tuesday, June 24, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Connie's name to the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 113 E.
