Mrs. Pittman was born in 1926 in Natchitoches, daughter of Carroll Gordon and Ella Crowder Killen, both of whom preceded her in death. She attended elementary and high school in Natchitoches, graduated from Northwestern Louisiana University and studied theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1950, Mrs. Pittman moved to Hammond to direct the Baptist Student Union. Shortly afterward, she met her future husband, Iddo Pittman, at church. The couple had four children, Kathleen Sharon, now of Medfield, Mass., Stephen Iddo, of River Junction, Mich., John Carroll, of Parker, Colo., and Charles Ian, of Hammond. A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Pittman was a woman with great love for God, family and beauty. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hammond for many years, a founding member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and most recently attended Broadmoor Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. Through extensive travel, study and yearly attendance at the Williamsburg Antiques Forum, Mrs. Pittman became an authority on 18th-century antiques. She could frequently be found in her garden tending to her many flowers and shrubs.
