PORTIER, SR. JAROLD LAMAR

A resident of Ponchatoula, he died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at his residence. 
He was 75 and a native of Brownsville, Ala. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son 
Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting at the 
funeral home from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Thursday, 
conducted by the Rev. Stanley Day. Interment in Ponchatoula Cemetery. Survived 
by his wife, Billie Givens Portier, Ponchatoula; a daughter, Sherry Portier 
Hunt, Atlanta; two sons, Jarold Portier Jr., Hammond, and Alvin Portier, 
Denham Springs; a stepson, Pete Scalia, Hammond; a sister, Mattie Mae Gordon, 
Hammond; and 14 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Emile and 
Florence Newman Portier; a son, E.J. Portier; two sisters, Helen Rainey and 
Margie Portier; and three brothers, Wilbert, Frank and James Portier. He was 
a former yard supervisor with Avondale Shipyard and a U.S. Navy veteran of 
World War II.

PORTIER, MELBA LAURA
Melba Laura Portier died Sunday April 25th, 2010 At North Oaks Medical 
Center in Hammond La.  She was a life long resident of Ponchatoula where 
she Married her husband Wilbur Portier and raised her family.  She is 
survived by her three sons, Keith Portier who now lives in Arkansas, Barry, 
and Desrie Portier who are residents of Ponchatoula and one daughter Linda 
Starkey of Springfield.  She is also survived by one grandson William 
Starkey, and four granddaughters, Shannon Portier, Huston Tx. and Laura, 
Amanda, and Abby Portier from Ponchatoula and six great grandchildren.  She 
was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur Portier, and her parents Desrie, 
and Usurla Lavigne Gates, and three brothers, Henry, Berhman, and Randolph 
Gates.  Friends will be received Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Wesley 
Chapel 39731 S. Thibodeaux Road, Ponchatoula, LA. 70454, 985-386-602, from 
6:00p.m. until 10:00p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until services.
Services will be held at Wesley Chapel, Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at 
10:00 a.m., with Rev. Mark Lubbock officiating.  Interment will follow in 
the Sand Hill Cemetery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454.  An on-line guest book

PORTIER, MICHAEL JOSEPH SR. 
Albany - Michael Joseph Portier Sr., 38, died Friday, December 26, 2003, at 
his mother's home after a lengthy illness. A native of Montegut and resident 
of Albany, he is survived by his parents, Hillary A. Portier Sr. and Georgia 
A. Portier of Albany; a daughter, Heather Nicole Portier of Albany; two sons, 
Michael J. Portier Jr. and Brett Casey Portier, both of Albany; two sisters, 
Catherine D. Konieczka of Holden and Amanda M. Portier of Albany; three 
brothers, Charles R. Portier, Guy A. Portier and Hillary A. Portier Jr., all 
of Albany; and a maternal grandmother, Thelma J. Roger of Albany. Visitation 
will be at 6 to 9 p.m. today and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Geisler Funeral 
Home in Ponchatoula. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Margaret 
Catholic Church in Albany. Burial will be at St. Margaret Catholic Church 
Cemetery.
