J. Kentwood - C.J. Pounds, 67, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. He was a native of Independence. He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Pounds of Kentwood; three sons, Gregory Pounds of New Orleans, Charles Pounds of Greensburg and Reginald Pounds of Kentwood; three daughters, Evangeline Corbett, Schnell Porter and Tangie Trotter, all of Kentwood; two sisters, Madell Duskin of Metairie and Thelma Johnson of Baton Rouge; five brothers, Eddie Pounds Sr. of Magnolia, Miss., Lester Pounds of New Orleans, Eugene Pounds of Kentwood, Calvin Pounds of Gillsburg, Miss., and Alton Pounds of Kenner; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Pounds; one daughter, one son, one sister and four brothers. Visitation will be today at Spring Creek Baptist Church from 5 to 9 p.m. The Rev. Elton Strickland will conduct the funeral Saturday at noon, and burial will follow in Spring Creek Cemetery, Kentwood.
