POWERS, ANNE COMPOSTO
Anne Composto Powers, 89 years old, died Monday, August 10, 2009, at her
residence in Hammond.  She was born on Saturday, May 15, 1920, in Chicago,
Illinois.  Mrs. Powers was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in
Hammond.  Surviving are her first cousins, Catherine Schroeder and family;
and Ann Marie Di Prima and family.  She is preceded in death by her
husband, Arthur Powers; parents, Mary Umbra and Vincent Composto; and son,
Martin Arthur Powers.  Friends will be received Friday, August 14, 2009, at
Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of
Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in the Rose Memorial
Park Cemetery in Hammond.  An on-line guest book is available at

POWERS, JOHN E. 
John E. Powers, 78 was found dead at his home east of Robert on Wednesday,
where he had lived alone for 8 years.  He was a native of East Baton Rouge
parish.  Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Thomas Funeral Home
and burial was in Ridgdell cemetery.

POWERS, LORRAINE GERTRUDE
Amite - Lorraine Gertrude Powers, 65, died Dec. 13, 2000, at North Oaks
Medical Center. She was a restaurant cook and a native of New Orleans. 
Survivors include a daughter, Mary J. Joseph; son, Leo Powers; sister,
Gloria Powers, all of Amite; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. 
Four sisters, Rosemary Gerace, Elise and Louise Powers and B. Harness; and
three brothers, Lorenzo, Emanuel and Anthony Powers, preceded her in death. 
The Rev. Billy Ray Johnson conducted the funeral this morning at Angelic
Funeral Home, Roseland, and burial was in Butler's Cemetery, Amite.

POWERS, MARTIN
Mr. Martin Powers born on September 2, 1945 in San Diego, CA passed away on
December 1, 2008. Mr. Powers was a man whose love of the sea was surpassed
only by his love for his family.  He was the loving son of the late Arthur
Powers.  He is survived by his mother Mrs. Anne Powers and many cousins in
the Chicago and San Diego areas. He will be greatly missed by all of his
many friends in the Hammond area as well.  A funeral mass will be held on
Friday December 5, 2008 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 10 a.m. followed
