She was 81 and a native of Ensley, Ala. She was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge and a member of St. George Catholic Church. She is survived by a sister, Mary Cashia; a son, Dr. John F. Prestigiacomo; and a daughter, Rosena Prestigiacomo, all of Baton Rouge; sisters-in-law, Doris Munson, Madeline Ancona and husband Frank, Josie Hearn and husband John D., Virginia Dyess and husband Clinton, and "Lena's baby," Carly Rose Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Prestigiacomo; parents, Frank and Concetta Cashia; and three brothers, Nick, Phillip and Ben Cashia. Visiting at St. George Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Joey Angeles. Interment in Colonial Cemetery, Independence, at 2 p.m. Thursday. The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to Dr. Joseph Deumite and Dr. Walter L. Bringaze for the care they provided through the years. Her son and daughter would like to thank family and friends who have helped them through this trying time. She was 90. Visitation will be at St. George Catholic Church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum. She is survived by her son, Martin Prestigiacomo; sister, Loretta Buttacovilli; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Prestigiacomo; brother, Tony; and sisters, Angelina and Mary. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church.
