He was born in San Angelo, Texas, and was raised in the Hammond/Springfield area. He was a longtime resident of Old Mandeville. A retired antiques dealer, he owned Cypress Knee Antiques in Old Mandeville. He was a veteran of the US Army, and was a one-time hospice volunteer and has been one of the original members of a coffee group that now gathers at Mandeville's La Madeline Restaurant since Hurricane Katrina. He is survived by his longtime love, Peggy Chesnut, his daughter Natalee Pyatt and her husband Milan Valuch, by his son Christopher Cass Pyatt and his wife April Sparks Pyatt and Gil's beloved grandchildren Quincey and Keegan Pyatt. He is also survived by his brother Everett "Skip" Pyatt and his wife Joyce Pyatt, his niece Katherine Pyatt and nephew Aaron Pyatt and his wife Toni Pyatt, and grandnieces Shelbi Rose and Aubrey. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 1 o'clock in the afternoon at Bagnell and Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road, Covington, LA.
