A retired merchant seaman and a parishioner of St. Louis Cathedral, New Orleans, he died at 4:40 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2003, at Cannon Hospice in Mercy Hospital, New Orleans. He was 63, a native of Knoxville, Tenn. and a resident of New Orleans since 1968. Visiting at St. Louis Cathedral from 10 a.m. until religious service at noon Tuesday, conducted by Fr. Kenneth Hedrick. Interment in Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood, at 3 p.m. Survived by his wife, Dorothy Anne McDaniel Rader; a son, David E. Rader Jr.; three daughters, Jody Rader Battaglia and Joyce Freiler Rader, all of New Orleans, and Anne Frazier Rader, Ocklawaha, Fla.; mother and stepfather, Francis and Howard Lee, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; two sisters, Vivian Mimbs and Sue Hamlett, both of Oak Ridge; five grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews and scores of friends and relatives. Preceded in death by his daughter, Tee Frances Rader Panarello; and father, Ernest J. Rader. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cannon Hospice in Mercy Hospital. He died at 10 p.m. on Holy Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. David Ernest Rader Jr. entered the gates of heaven after being ill for many years. He was 45, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Chalmette. Mr. Rader was a chef, specializing in Italian cuisine.
