RAGAN, JOSEPHINE B. "JO" Josephine B. "Jo" Ragan, age 90 of Benton, Ark., died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at Saline Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 19, 1913, in Hammond, to the late Guy and Louisa Burruano. Mrs. Ragan was retired from Reynolds Metals Co. Chemical Lab and also worked for the past 18 years as a hostess for Ed and Kay's Restaurant. Jo was a member of the Bauxite Chapter of Eastern Star for 30 years, serving as past matron and secretary and was currently a member of the Congo chapter and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Benton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ragan. Survived by brothers, Angelo J. Burruano, Brusly, and Anthony J. Burruano, Plaquemine; a sister, Mary B. Gillon, New Orleans; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a great-great-nephew. Visitation at Ashby Funeral Home Inc., Benton, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday. He was born on Monday, July 26, 1954, in Hammond, La., son of Vera Hebert Ragan and the late Stanley "Hickey" Ragan. Mr. Ragan retired from Bellsouth after 35 years of service as an installer and repairman. He loved and was truly dedicated to his community. He was a member of the Ponchatoula Volunteer Fire Department for 32 years during which he served as the Fire Chief from 2000 until 2007. Stanley coached baseball and softball for numerous years. He was honored as Volunteer of the Year in 1994. He was a devoted husband, loving father, Poppa, brother and friend. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
