She was born on Thursday, Feb. 28, 1929, in Abbeville, daughter of the late Ovay Fletcher and the late Flavia Larpentuer Fletcher. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Stacy and Kathy Raiford; grandchildren, Morgan and Taylor Raiford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Daniel Gene Raiford, was born April 18, 1982. He died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, tragically in a motorcycle accident. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and friend to all who knew him. Daniel was a 2000 graduate of Ponchatoula High School. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed LSU football. He also enjoyed serving his country and being a soldier for the Louisiana National Guard. He served and defended his country most recently in Afghanistan. He will be missed dearly. The world is a lesser place without him.
