RAINES, ALTON WILLARD (BILL) 
Alton Willard (Bill) Raines, 82 years old of Aurora, CO, died Sunday, March
21, 2010.  He was born on Monday, October 17, 1927, in Uneedus LA.  Husband
of Bertha Ann Raines, Aurora, CO for 52 years; father of Tammy Jean
(George) Blansett, Robert Vernon (Changsong) Raines, and Brenda Lee Raines;
grandfather of Chad Blansett, Nicole Blansett, and Dereck Helms; great
grandfather of Alexander Tihonovich and Caleb Cunningham; and brother of
Sidney Raines, Elester Raines, Terry Raines, Oscar Raines, Esther Penton,
Doretha LaFleur, Albert Raines, and Nola Raines. Preceded in death by his
parents Elustres Scales Raines and Alice Reed Raines and brothers Daniel
Raines, Norman Raines, Meshell Raines, Cypher Raines, Elmous Raines and
Clarence Raines, step-mother Lavada Anthony Raines.  Friends will be
received Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home
in Hammond from 9:00a.m. until services.  Services will be held in the
funeral home chapel, Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 11:00a.m.  Interment will
follow in the Reed Raines Memorial Gardens.  An on-line guest book is

RAINES, CLARENCE M.
Avondale - Clarence M. Raines, 85, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000. He was a
native of Folsom. Survivors include a son, Russell Raines; a daughter,
Alice Hihar, Avondale; eight brothers, Elmous and Oscar Raines, both of
Kenner, Willis Raines, Metairie, the Rev. Elester Raines, Hammond, Alton
Raines, Aurora, Colo., Sidney Raines, Purvis, Miss., Meshell Raines,
Slidell, and Albert Raines, Enon; three sisters, Esther Penton, Metairie,
Doretha Lafleur, Slidell, Nola Ann Homer, Metairie; six grandchildren and
12 great-grandchildren.  His wife, Verda Byrd Raines; and three brothers,
Danies, Cypher and Norman Raines, preceded him in death.  Visitation will
be at Tharp Sontheimer Funeral Home, Metairie, Tuesday from 7 a.m. until
the funeral at 11. Burial will be in Reed Raines Memorial Garden, Uneedus.

RAINES, MESHELL SR.
Slidell - Meshall Raines Sr., 71, died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at his home
of heart failure.  He was an auto mechanic and a native of Uneedus.
Survivors include his sons, Sidney, Steve, Leon and Meshell Raines Sr.;
three daughters, Cynthia Raines, Veronica Wright and Kathy Funck; six
brothers, Terry, Elester, Bill, Sidney, Oscar and Albert Raines; three
sisters, Esther Penton, Doretha LaFleur and Nola Smith; 13 grandchildren
and eight great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be Thursday at Bagnell
Funeral Home, Covington, from 9 a.m. until the funeral at noon.

RAINES, OSCAR VERNON
Oscar Vernon Raines, 75 years old, passed away Monday, September 19, 2011, 
at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He was born on Tuesday, July 7, 1936, 
in Uneedus, son of the late Elester Scales and Alice Reid Raines.  
Surviving are 3 sons, Elester V. Raines, Ronald Raines and wife Lisa, and 
Louis O. Raines, 3 brothers, Rev. Elester E. Raines, Sidney D. Raines, and 
Albert Raines, 3 sisters, Esther Penton, Doretha LaFleur, and Nola Smith, 
7 grandchildren, Crystal Raines Slaughter, Jessica Martinez, Leslee Raines, 
Billy Joe Raines, Bobbie Lee Raines, Dustin Raines, and Wesley Raines; 4 
great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by wife, Bobbie Furlow Raines; 
son, Billy Joe Raines; daughter-in-law, Sherry Lee Raines and 8 siblings.
Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on 
Thursday, September 22, 2011, from 8:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Home 
Chapel Service, officiated by Rev. Elester E. Raines. Interment will follow 
in Reed-Raines Memorial Gardens.  An online guestbook is available at
