RAKOCY, VIRGINIA MAE SALTZMAN  "JENNY"
Born Aug. 13, 1914, Virginia Rakocy, 95 years old, of Manchac, went home to
be with her Lord on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009. She will be lovingly
remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother and faithful friend. She
was a former postmaster in Manchac and an employee at Middendorfs
Restaurant. She was owner of Andy's Seafood and Bait in Manchac. She was
also one of the original founders of Manchac Baptist Church where she
served her Savior all her life. She is survived by her son Andy "Rocky"
Rakocy Sr. and wife Nina; brother, Merlin Saltzman and wife Theresa;
grandchildren, Andy "Rocky" Rakocy Jr. and wife Karla, Reese Rakocy and
wife Sarah, Melita Langston, Patrick Thibodeaux and wife Dana; great-
grandchildren, Nicole, Rocky, Jamie and Kenya Parent, Angela Perkins, Josh
Langston, Kristen Hoover, Seth Rakocy, Kaylie and Jacob Thibodeaux, Zachary
Housley and Hunter and Brock Rakocy; four great-great-grandchildren; niece,
Diane David and nephew, Kenny Saltzman; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew W. Rakocy; parents,
Godfrey and Alice Saltzman; brother, Jessie Saltzman; and infant son,
Joseph Reno. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home,
Ponchatoula, on Tuesday, Dec. 15, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday
from 8 a.m. until funeral service at 10 a.m. in the chapel with Brother Jim
Nettles officiating. Interment will follow in Sandhill Cemetery. An online
