A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of White Castle, she passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2010, at age 89 and began a journey to a better place. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Cecilia Dunn and wife of the late Minor Ray Jr. Religious service at Asbury Methodist Church, White Castle, on Friday, April 30, at 8 p.m. and will resume on Saturday, May 1, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Andrew Richardson, pastor. Interment in Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery. She was an active member of the Senior Usher Board, serving in the capacity of president for many years. A very giving person, she tried her best to help all that she could. Dorothy is survived by three sons, Herman Ray, Mansura, Minor Ray and wife Katherine, and Milton Ray, all of Baton Rouge; five daughters, Beatrice Allen and husband Alfred, of Plaquemine, Dorothy Smith and husband Quintis, of Alexandria, and Joyce Ray, Linda Patterson, and Marie Bennett and husband Milton, all of Baton Rouge; a brother, R.C. Jones, Plaquemine; two sisters, Gladys Buggs and Edna Veal, Plaquemine; two sisters-in-law, Lois Jones, Baton Rouge, and Audrey Knighten, Hammond; 24 grandchildren, three of whom she reared, Claramecia, Hermeshia, and Derralyn; 28 great-grandchildren; nephew, Edward Adler Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Minor Ray Jr.; four sons and two daughters.
