He was 56. A native of New Orleans, Reso had worked as an independent public relations counselor since 1987. He formerly served as vice president in charge of public relations for Bauerlein, Inc., Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations. He was also a manager of communications for the Chamber of Commerce in New Orleans, an accredited public relations counselor and writer. He was vice president of the New Orleans Press Club, president of the New Orleans Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, producer and writer of the Gridiron Show and manager of the International Press 1987 Papal Visit to New Orleans. He received the 1995 Addy's award for best of show from the Advertising Club of New Orleans and was the Public Relations Person of the Year in 1996 named by the Advertising Club of New Orleans. Reso served in the military as a company and battalion commander, public affairs staff officer, human resources staff officer and military intelligence staff officer. He was also a retired lieutenant colonel of the Louisiana Army National Guard. His military honors included the U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (two awards) and the Louisiana Cross of Merit. His education included receiving a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of New Orleans in 1969. He was also a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and of the Religious Studies Institute, Diocese of Baton Rouge/St. Joseph Seminary College. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Corkern Reso of Ponchatoula; his mother, Olga A. Reso of New Orleans; and three brothers, Jerome J. Reso Jr. of New Orleans, Ronald J. Reso of Clarkston, Mich., and Richard A. Reso of Thibodaux. His father, Jerome J. Reso, and a sister, Marilyn Reso Greene, preceded him in death. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula and Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the Rev. Justin Kauchak conducts a Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Burial will be in the Ponchatoula Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to the American Cancer Society, Tangipahoa Parish Chapter; the Rosary Altar Society of St. Joseph Catholic church, Ponchatoula; and Brother Martin High School, New Orleans.
