"COUNTRY BOY" Rube Edward Rogers Jr., age 68, passed away at his residence near Springfield, LA on August 13, 2010. He was well known for his many activities and job titles. He began his radio career as a teenager and his love for country music led him to host live shows featuring local talent as well as national stars. Rube was an ordained Baptist minister who later progressed to politics, serving as a spokesman and advisor to political candidates. He was elected to serve on the Tangipahoa Parish Police Jury and was the first Interstate Battery Distributor for southeast Louisiana. In his later years, he traveled nationwide, monitoring safety, for several scaffolding companies. RubeÕs multitude of life experiences led him to form lasting friendships with many superstars and state and national officials. Although he enjoyed the spotlight and glamour, his heart was always with Òhis peopleÓ who he defined as anyone he could help. Rube gave his time, energy, and heart to many organizations and individuals by sponsoring and promoting fundraisers and benefits.
