ROHLING, ESTHER SOHAYDA 
Esther Sohayda Rohling, a retired unit secretary for North Oaks Medical
Center, Hammond, died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at her home in Hammond. She
was 82, born Sunday, July 29, 1923, in Niles, Ohio, the daughter of the
late Alex Sohayda and Esther Mezei. Surviving are three daughters, Esther
Pam Newman, JoAnne Tallo and Deborah Stevens, all of Hammond; a brother,
Charles Pal of Robert; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was
also preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Frank Rohling. Friends
will be received at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond on Wednesday,
April 5, from 11 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, with the Rev.
John Restrepo, O.P., celebrant. Interment in Rose Memorial Park Cemetery,

ROHLING, SYLVESTER FRANK
A resident of Hammond, he died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at North Oaks Medical
Center, Hammond. He was 84 and a native of New Munich, Minn. Visitation at
Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday
and from 8 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Ghost
Catholic Church, Hammond, at 10 a.m. Monday, conducted by a Dominican
priest. Interment in Rose Memorial Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Esther
Juliasohayda Rohling; three daughters, Esther Pam Newman, JoAnne Tallo and
Debbie Stevens; a sister, Lorraine Rohling; 10 grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Frances 
Wollbeck Rohling.
