A retired laboratory technician for Exxon Co. USA with more than 28 years of service and a longtime resident of Baker, he died at 3:51 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. He was 95, born Jan. 25, 1905, in Hammond. Visiting was at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting at the funeral home chapel from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Ted Roeling of Baker Presbyterian Church. Interment in Azalea Rest Cemetery, Zachary. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nincy and Larry Slocum and Billie Jean and Leonard Odom; a son and daughter-in- law, Gus and Laura Nordstrom; a sister, 10 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Arline Williams Nordstrom; and two sisters. Pallbearers will be grandsons. He was a member of Baker Presbyterian Church and Baker Masonic Lodge. In recognition of his volunteer work, he was selected as Outstanding Citizen of the Year in Baker for 1996. The family would like to thank the staffs of Dixon Medical Center and Heritage Manor for their care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baker Presbyterian Church. ***************************************************************************
