At age 80, Grace passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. She was a devoted mother who loved to tell and listen to good stories. By volunteering as a foster grandparent at the Hammond Developmental Center, Grace was able to fulfill her passion for helping others. She was known as a generous Christian "country" lady, who always had a sober sense of humor. Grace provided for her family as a seamstress and managing the Dollar General Store along with many other related jobs. Grace is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Beth-Andermann Rosata, of Kingwood, Texas; seven grandchildren and their spouses, John III and Angelle Rosata, of Nashville, Tenn., Kimberly and Steve Sossamon, of Dallas, Erin and Wally Fleming, of Robert, Reagan and Clint Harris, of Tyler, Texas, Kellie Alison and Danny Stevens, of Williston, Fla., Lauren and Matthew Todd, of Hebron, Ky., and Karlyn Rosata, of Covington. She leaves behind eight great-grandchildren and an expected great-grandson. Her surviving siblings are two sisters, Lula Mae Pierson, of Holden, and Lauressa Watts, of Bush; and a brother, Lemuel Stewart, of Albany. She will be sadly missed by her family and a host of friends. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, John Rosata Sr.; two sons, Kelly Raymond Rosata and Jimmy Rosata; and a brother, Lawrence Stewart. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond, on Friday, April 24, at 10 a.m. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, April 23, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until service time. The services will be officiated by Deacon Wallace Gainey. Interment in Parklawn Cemetery. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Kellie Alison Stevens and Danny Stevens, Lauren Rosata-Todd and Matthew Todd; daughter, Karlyn Rosata; mother, Grace S. Rosata; very special friend, Judy DeMarco; brother, John Rosata Jr.; step-daughter and step son-in-law, Angel and Bobby Roe; grandchildren, Dylan, Juliana and Danielle Stevens; two step-grandchildren, one nephew and three nieces. He was preceded in death by Father: John Rosata Sr. His grandparents and an infant brother.
