Claude Rost Sr. was born March 7, 1926, and passed away at 3:50 a.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. Mr. Claude was 85, a native of Leroy, former resident of St. Bernard Parish and resident of Amite. He was retired from Kaiser Aluminum, Chalmette, and served our country during World War II in the Navy. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Beatrice Pourciau Rost, Amite; four daughters, Claudette Marceaux, Gueydan, Barbara Wilson, Mount Vernon, Ill., Beverly Mouton, Crowley, and Tina Marie Mello and husband, Michael Sr., Hammond; two sons, Claude Rost Jr. and wife Jan, Slidell, and Paul Daryl Rost, Chalmette; three brothers, Herbert Rost, Louis Larry Rost and Paul Alden Rost; six sisters, Inez Leonard, Willie Mae Peterson, Helen Faulk, Deanna Ford, Zula Graybeal and Earline Thomas; five grandchildren, Michael Mello Jr. and wife Nicole, Katie Rost, Korie Rost, Kristen Mello and Collin Rost; great- grandchild, Abigail Mello; numerous other grandchildren, great-grand- children and great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Felicie Hargrave Rost; brother, Dennis Rost; and two sisters, Vernis "Meon" Dubois and Jean Bridges. Visitation at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Independence, Tuesday, April 19, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Howard Adkins, pastor.
