Now, she is young, beautiful, and healthy again. She was born in Mc- Comb, MS on July 3, 1942. Her parents were Johnny L. Holmes, Sr. and Myrtis Inez Miller. From age 11 she was raised by her foster mother, Rose Sisson of Ponchatoula. Dorothy was married to her high school sweetheart, William David Rouse, Sr. Their love was blessed with four beautiful children. She also had 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Dorothy graduated from Ponchatoula High School with the class of 1961. She was the perfect homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She loved cooking, sewing, and gardening. Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula, past member of Gideons International, Ponchatoula Gardenettes, and Florida Parishes Classic Car Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, foster mother, one brother, Paul Hill, and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Rouse. Dorothy placed her faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. If you want to see her again in Heaven, you must do that too. She is survived by her husband of fifty years; her four children: William D. Rouse, Jr., Diana Rouse Cross, Russell Fred Rouse and Sylvia Rouse Notariano; two full brothers: Johnny L. Holmes, Jr. and Stanley E. Holmes; three half brothers, Ron Dillon, James Holmes, and Dedric Sanders; two half sisters: Pamela Holmes Wagner and Lynn Sanders Jackson; a very special son-in-law, Chuck Notariano; a very special grandson, Russell Kyle Rouse; and all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You are invited to celebrate Dorothy's homegoing. Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm and will resume at 8:00 am on Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 11:00 am with Dr. David Cranford and Rev. Jim Nichols officiating. She was 88 and a native of Roseland. Visitation at Amite-Arcola Presbyterian Church, Amite, from 9 a.m. Thursday until religious services at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. John Davis and the Rev. She was born on May 17, 1968, in Evansville, Tennessee and was a native of Clarksville, Tennessee. Rebecca was a graduate of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, a member of the First Baptist Church in Ponchatoula, LA where she taught Sunday school, and an Eastern Star member. She is survived by her husband, William David Rouse, Jr.; 3 daughters, Christina Landry, Jacqulyn and Kelsey Rouse; son, William David Rouse, III; mother, Connie Deere; 2 brothers, Leslie and Andrew Deere; sister, Jennifer Deere; 2 grandchildren, Cayne Landry and Miles Rouse. Her father, David Y. Deere preceded her in death.
