JR. Metairie - Joseph H. Ruppert Jr., 78, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at his home. He was a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans and Metairie and was a retired motor pool administrator with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, a graduate of Metairie High School and attended Loyola. He hosted a summer camp in Robert for the Jefferson Parish Junior Deputies for more than 10 years in the 1970s. He was a lifelong parishioner of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and a former member of the Krewe of Carrollton. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and saw action in the Pacific Theater and at Okinawa. Survivors include his wife, Doris McKinney Ruppert; four sons, Joseph H. III, Gregory A. and Jason K. Ruppert all of Cary., N.C., and Karl J. Ruppert, New York City; a daughter, Melissa R. Jessen, Lake Charles; and two grandchildren. The funeral was this morning at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, and burial was in Lake Lawn Mausoleum. ***************************************************************************
