She was born December 3, 1939. She was a homemaker, loving mother, wife and friend. She was a native of Maurepas and resident of Ponchatoula. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Rose Ordoyne of Bogalusa, Vanessa Nicholson of Bogalusa, Veronica & Paul Sandifer of Ponchatoula; brother, Horace Picou of Arkansas; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a very special friend, Deborah Starns. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tenny W. & Alzada Ballard Picou Sr.; sister, Lorena Picou; 2 brothers, Joseph Picou & Tenny W. "Snow" Picou Jr. Friends and family will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula on Sunday, July 9, 2006 from 9 am until the services begin at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lela Picou Ryals Memorial Fund at Central Progressive Bank in Ponchatoula for her children she lived with for 15 years, Areil, Joanna, Kari, Shanna, and Tressa Sandifer. These were her wishes. Interment will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery in Ponchatoula. The family would like to give a special thanks to Karen in ICU, who went beyond the call of duty. ***************************************************************************
