LIVINGSTON - Johnny R. Salassi, 63, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. He was a native of French Settlement and a retired carpenter with the Local 1098. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his wife, Mildred McKinney Salassi; one daughter, Monica Martin of French Settlement; one son, John Lloyd Salassi of French Settlement; one sister, Helen Reese of French Settlement; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Berthea Mae Salassi. Visitation will be today at Seale Funeral Home, Livingston, from 5 to 10 p.m., and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the Rev. Terry Lobell conducts the funeral at 10. She was 76 and a native of Milwaukee. Funeral services at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Poston and the Rev. Jake Roudouski. Interment in Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite. Survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Jean Ann and Roy Calabresi, Arabi, Susan and Galen Thompson, Amite, and Cindy and Rodney Kruse, Temple; a sister, Beverly Hamilton, Racine, Wis.; 11 grandchildren, Christopher Sanders, Allen, Lisa and Tina Calabresi, Jeremiah Thompson, Shirley, Walter and Connie Kruse, Stephanie Milton, Shirley Carol and Lisa MajouÎ; and six great-grandchildren, Reginald, Ryan and Savannah Milton, Trey Sanders, Kaitlyn Calabresi and Michael MajouÎ. Preceded in death by her husband, Carol A. Salassi; a daughter, Bonnie Sanders; and a sister, Lorraine Johnson. Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law.
