A carpenter and a resident of Ponchatoula, he died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Covington. He was 68 and a native of New Orleans. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, with vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Monday. Religious services at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ponchatoula, at 10 a.m. Monday. Interment in Sand Hill Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Anne Rome Salzer, Ponchatoula; a daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne Salzer Kliebert and Keith Kliebert, Ponchatoula; a son and daughter-in-law, Alfred Joseph Salzer III and Rebecca Armstrong Salzer, Covington; five sisters,Adrien Bettwey, Pineville, Sharon Solomon, Kenner, Jackie Hymel, River Ridge, Iris Waguespack, LaPlace, and Carol Beckelhimer, Metairie; two granddaughters, Sheena and Courtnie Kliebert; and a grandson, Matthew Dalton Salzer. She was born on Wednesday, November 9, 1932, in Vacherie, daughter of the late Jean and Elucia Murry Rome. Surviving are daughter & son-in-law, Roxanne and Keith Kliebert, son & daughter-in-law, Alfred and Rebecca Salzer III; grandchildren Sheena Hyatt (Chad), Courtnie Kliebert (Keith), Laurel and Matthew Salzer; great- grandchildren, Slayton Hyatt and Piper McMillion; brothers, Russell, Jean, and Tony Rome. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Salzer Jr.; 4 sisters and 5 brothers. Friends will be received Monday, April 1, 2013 from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Ponchatoula. Services will be held at Funeral Home Chapel - Ponchatoula, Monday, at 2:00 pm, with Fr. Cayet Mangiaracina, O.P. officiating. Interment will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery Ponchatoula.
