SAM, FREDERICK DOUGLAS  

Frederick Douglas Sam, 86, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at Lallie Kemp Regional 
Medical Center, Independence. He was a native of New Iberia and a U.S. Army 
veteran. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Lee Anderson Sam of Hammond; one 
daughter, Freddie Marie Maxie of Lake Charles; one sister, Eunice Francis; one 
brother, Nollie Francis; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was 
preceded in death by one son, Frederick Sam Jr.; and one daughter, Earlene Sam. 
Visitation will be at N.A. James Funeral Home, Hammond, Wednesday from 5 to 9 
p.m. The funeral will be Thursday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. 
Burial will be in Holly Gardens Cemetery.
