Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Friday. Religious services at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Independence, at 9 a.m. Friday, conducted by a Dominican priest. Interment in Colonial Cemetery. Survived by two daughters, Congetta Sampere Giamalva, Independence, and Catherine Sampere Pecararo, Hammond; two sons, Buster Sampere and Frank Sampere, both of Independence; a brother, Sam T. Zinna, Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and six great- great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Roy Sampere; father, Franco Zinna; mother, Caterina Abene Zinna; four brothers, Tony Zinna, Joe Zinna, Cosimo Zinna and John Zinna; and two sisters, Josephine Zinna Gullatta and Lena Zinna Cacioppo. He was born on Monday, March 6, 1944, in Independence. Mr. Sampere served in the United States Army. He was a member of the St. Joseph Society and St. Mary Society and he also loved to sing karaoke. Surviving are his brother, Buster Sampere; sister, Catherine Sampere Pecararo; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Angelina Zinna Sampere; and sister, Congetta Ann Sampere Giamalva.
