He was a retired heavy equipment operator with Kaiser Aluminum in Gramercy. He was a member and former officer with United Steelworkers Union of America and a member of the Oddfellows. He was a member and deacon of Bonner Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Carrie Linton Sandifer of Folsom; two sons, Bennie Sandifer Jr. and Vergil Sandifer, both of Ponchatoula; two daughters, Roxanna Bankston of Ponchatoula and Colleen McKinney of Tickfaw; six grandchildren, Bradley Bankston, Jason Bankston, Dustin Smith, Christopher McKinney, Ben Sandifer and Aimee Sandifer; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jerri Guillott of Mobile, Ala. Visitation will be at the Bonner Creek Baptist Church after 10 a.m. Monday, January 29, until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Larry Sylvest and the Rev. Clayton Kennedy officiating. Interment will be in the Blackwell Cemetery near Folsom. Crain Funeral Home, Franklinton, is in charge of arrangements. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.C. Harling; second husband, Lewis W. Sandifer; her parents, John and Effie Carlock Scott; five brothers, William "Doc," Andrew "Brownie," John, R.W. and J.C. Scott; and four sisters, Velma, Mary, Maud and an infant sister. Visitation will be Saturday at First Baptist Church of Arcola from 8 a.m. until the Rev. Bob Simpson conducts the funeral at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Arcola-Roseland Cemetery, Arcola.
