He was 80, born April 15, 1926, in Morgan City. He was the son of Matteo Sarra and Anna Macaluso Sarra. "Bennie" was a World War lI veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served aboard the escort carrier USS Munda in the Pacific. He and his brothers owned and operated a taxi service in Chicago. He later moved back to his hometown and worked for many years on offshore supply vessels for various companies in the area. He also owned and operated an egg production farm in Robert. He is survived by four children, Benedict Martin Sarro, married to Paulette Jones Sarro, of Franklinton, Barbara Lucy Sarro Hendricks, married to Joseph Reese Hendricks, of Thompson Station, Tenn., Dawn Marie Sarro Nolen of Maurice, and Richard Louis Sarro, married to Melanie Denise King Sarro, of Lake Charles; brother, Frank Sarro of Hammond; 11 grandchildren, Wendy Denise Sarro Peterson, married to George A. Peterson, of Waggaman, Kristi Hendricks Flagg, married to Jason Flagg, of Cypress, Texas, Timothy Joseph Hendricks, married to Amy Renner Hendricks, of Farr West, Utah, Anthony Marc Sarro, married to Erica Reynolds Sarro, of Montz, Tessa Renee Nolan, and Tiffeny Renee Nolan Methvin, married to Cade Methvin, all of Maurice, Allison Renee Sarro of Hammond, Jessi Mary Hendricks of Thompson Station, Mikayla Lynn Sarro of Franklinton, and Zachary Wyatt Sarro and Carter King Sarro, both of Lake Charles; and four great-grandchildren, Brooke Nicole Sarro of Montz, Amber Lynn Petterson of Waggaman, Ethan Mark Sarro of Montz and Samuel George Peterson of Waggaman. Preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Cortina Sarro; parents, Matteo and Anna Sarra; and two brothers, Manuel and Kelly Sarro. Frank was a WWII veteran, honorably discharged from the United States Army. Frank served in Central Europe and the Rhineland with the 788th Field Artillery Battalion, Battery B. He served as a heavy machine gunner and was his commanding officer's chauffeur. He and his brothers operated a taxi service in Chicago, IL that was the first service to utilize two-way radios to dispatch the taxicabs. He worked as an automotive electrician and marine diesel engineer on offshore supply vessels. He is survived by two nephews, Benedict Martin Sarro of Franklinton, LA and Richard Louis Sarro of Lake Charles, LA. He is survived by two nieces, Barbara Lucy Sarro Hendricks of Thompson Station, TN and Dawn Marie Sarro Nolen of Maurice, LA. She was born Tuesday, July 22, 1930, in Chicago. She was a homemaker and beautician. She is survived by her husband, Ben "Bennie" Sarro of Independence; daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara and Joe Hendricks of Thompson-Station, Tenn., and Dawn Nolen of Maurice; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Melanie Sarro of Lake Charles and Ben M. and Paulette Sarro of Franklinton; sister, Vivian Hansen of Lake Zurich, Ill.; seven granddaughters, Wendy Peterson of Waggaman, Kristi Flagg of Houston, Tessa Nolen and Tiffeny Methvin, both of Maurice, Allison Sarro of Hammond, Jessi Hendricks of Thompson-Station and Mikayla Sarro of Franklinton; three grandsons, Tim Hendricks of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Anthony Sarro of Kenner and Zachary Sarro of Lake Charles; two great-granddaughters, Brooke Nicole Sarro of Kenner and Amber Peterson of Waggaman; and a great-grandson, Ethan Sarro of Kenner. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Cortina and Lucy Genovese Cortina; and two sisters, Gloria Quatraro and Evelyn Gackowski.
