Alice was born on Saturday, July 16, 1921. Surviving are husband of 68 years, Leon Joseph Savoy ; daughter, Beverly Savoy Anderson; son & daughter-in-law, Bruce and Dot Savoy; son, Frank Savoy; sister, Nell Kinchen; brothers, Rollie and Edgar Bigner; grandchildren, Lee Savoy, Toni Savoy Gregoire, Dale Vernon, Jim Anderson, Tim Vernon, Melissa Savoy and April Holden; great-grandchildren, Ryan Coates, Sydney Gregoire, Noah Vernon, Alyssa Vernon, Safarie Vernon, Eli Gregoire and Wyiatt Holden; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by parents, Hugh Bignar Sr and Idelia Gatlin Bignar; brothers, Ellis and Amos Starkey; sisters; Carlene Lavigne and Patsy McKinney. Friends will be received at Springfield First United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 18, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until services. Services will be held at Springfield First Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Emile Tasso officiating. Interment will follow in the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery in Pumpkin Center. ************************************************************************* Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 4/8/2007 SAVOY, ALLEN JOSEPH Allen Joseph Savoy, age 79, was surrounded by his loving family at home when he made his peaceful journey to Heaven on Friday, April 6, 2007. A native of Springfield, La, and a resident of Albany, La, he was born July 5, 1927 to the late Ulysses Peter and Clemance Villneuve Savoy. Allen was a former police officer and alderman for the Town of Springfield, La, a retired off-shore worker and an awesome in home chef. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Mitchell Overland Savoy; 3 sons, Ben, Will and David Overland and 3 daughters, Bobbie Overland Bickford, Debra Savoy Rome and Delores Savoy Young. Allen was a wonderful and loving grandfather to Brian Wayne, Travis Dan and Jonnelle Brook Bickford of Natalbany, La, Jordan and Whitney Overland, Andrew, Tyler and Cody Overland, all of Albany, La, Tabitha Yvonne Rome of Gretna, La, Dawn, Scott and Jerry Young, Jr. of Sims, North Carolina and his 4 great-grandchildren. Other survivors are one brother, Leon łYawney˛ Savoy of Baptist, La, many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. His two brothers, Ulice and Hulon Savory, two sisters, Ida Hill and Lelia Graham and one son-in-law, Jesse Wayne Bickford preceded him in death. Our final farewell will be held at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Hwy 190 west of Hammond in Baptist. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel on Monday, April 9 and will continue on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the service time of 1:00 p.m. The services will be conducted by Rev.
