McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements. ************************************************************************* Obituary published in the Hammond Daily Star on: 6/14/2009 SCHIRO, ANTHONY Anthony "Tony" Schiro, age 84 and a lifelong resident of Independence, Anthony "Tony" Schiro passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at his residence. He was a parishioner of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church and a member of the Local 198 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, having worked for 30 years in the industry. Spending time with his family and helping others were most important to him, but he also enjoyed hunting and fishing and other outdoor activities. Mr. Schiro is survived by his two daughters, Patricia "Patsy" DePaula and husband Tommy; Delores Davis; his only son, Carlos J. Schiro and wife Shirley; five grandchildren, Clarissa Sampey and husband Frank, Cindy Lozier and husband Carl, C.J. Schiro, Christie OšNeill and husband Joe, Brittney Reason and husband Lennie; five great-grand- children, Brennon and Haylie OšNeill, Alleyna Sampey, Tatum Lozier along with Jude Anthony Reason due to be born in August. He is also survived by three sisters, Phine Gulino, Grace Restivo and Mary Dattalo along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Mr. Schiro in death were his wife, Josephine "Josie" Governale Schiro; parents, Carlo and Jennie Liuzza Schiro; sisters, Rita Nuccio and Lena Gennaro; brothers, Theodore, Luke and Jake Schiro.
