"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." Psalm 23:1. A loving husband and father, a man who was respected and admired by everyone who knew him, he was called home at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 81, a native of Tickfaw and a resident of Baton Rouge since 1941. For 26 years he was the co-owner of People's Grocery, which was one of the 17 founding member stores of Associated Grocers, Inc. He retired from Associated Grocers in 1989 after 25 years of service as a supervisor in the shipping and transportation departments. He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran, serving in the 1st Communication Squadron Air Force during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday was from 5 to 9 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. by St. Louis King of France Ushers and Altar Society. Through all of his various health care needs, we were often reminded by each of the providers that our dad was the model patient regardless of the procedure. He was a devout and prayerful man, who always knew the importance of God in his life. He loved and cherished his family. He especially enjoyed the many family gatherings around the Sunday dinner table. He also loved his Tigers. As an avid and loyal LSU Tiger fan he now has preferred seating at all the sporting events he enjoyed attending and watching.
