He was 76, a native and former resident of New Orleans and later retired to Kentwood. He retired as owner of Crescent Gun and Repair in New Orleans, was past master of Trinity Lodge 375 of New Orleans and two-time past master of Lodge 184 of Spring Creek. Mr. Schneider was born in New Orleans and lived there until 2005 when he and his wife relocated to Hammond following Hurricane Katrina. He is a graduated of Warren Easton High School and Tulane University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a surgical supply salesman and owner of Southern Surgical Supply Company. Mr. Schneider enjoyed gardening, Mardi Gras and socializing with friends. He was an active member of St. Dominic Knights of Columbus Council 3729, New Orleans Irish Cultural Society and AARP 1515 Club. He was a devoted husband and a loving father. He is survived by one daughter, Sylvia Schneider Bush and son-in-law, Joseph Ernest "Ernie" Bush III, Hammond; two sons: Stewart Schneider, Baton Rouge, and E. Shawn Schneider and daughter-in-law Suzanne Schneider and their children Philip and Casey Schneider, Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Nola Kelly Schneider, his parents, Robert E Schneider Sr, Dora Hellmers Schneider and two brothers Robert E Schneider, Jr and Herman Schneider. She graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic School on Tulane Avenue in New Orleans. Mrs. Schneider enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and socializing with friends. She was an active member of the Lakeview Botany Guild, Lake Oaks Garden Club, New Orleans Irish Cultural Society, AARP 1515 Club, and PRANO Ladies' Auxiliary. She held many offices in these organizations and was frequently recognized for her service. Mrs. Schneider was particularly proud of her work with the Lakeview Neighborhood Beautification Program. Before her marriage, she worked as an executive secretary.
