A resident of Amite, she died Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at Amite Nursing Home. She was 73 and a native of Brookhaven, Miss. Visiting at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, 10 a.m. Monday until religious services at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Alan House. Interment in Arcola-Roseland Cemetery, Arcola. Survived by two daughters, Joan Settoon, Amite, and Cindy Varnado, Roseland; two sons, Larry Schumacher, Hammond, and John Schumacher, Marietta, Ga.; three sisters, Agnes Landry, Hammond, Nell Chadwick, Roseland, and Betty Spears, Amite; four brothers, J.B. Crain, Roseland, Bobby Brister, Loranger, Elmer "Baby" Brister and Louis Brister Jr., both of Arcola; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, Frank C. Schumacher; a son, Tommy Schumacher; father, Joseph Crain; mother, Florence Brister; and a sister, Louise Brister. ************************************************************************* Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 2/13/2004 SCHUMACHER, LARRY JOSEPH Larry Joseph Schumacher, 56, owner of Four Seasons Cleaners, Inc., died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at his home. A native of Ottawa Lake, Mich., he served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. Survivors include his wife, Melissa Malley Schumacher of Hammond; two sons, Hayden and Ryan Schumacher, both of Amite; one daughter, Courtney Schumacher of Baton Rouge; one brother, John Schumacher of Roseland; and two sisters, Cindy Varnado of Roseland and Joan Settoon of Amite. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Algie Mae Crain Schumacher; and one brother, Thomas Schumacher. A memorial service will held at his home Sunday at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Oaks Hospice, P.O. Box 2668, Hammond, LA 70404.
