She had been a resident of Tickfaw for 65 years. She was the wife of Dominic J. Scimeca for 48 years. They owned and operated Scimeca's Grocery in Tickfaw for 32 years and operated the Tickfaw Washateria for 42 years. She was born on Nov. 12, 1923, in Denham Springs, daughter of Frank Eugene and Janie Schillings Roe. Survived by a daughter, Sannie Evelyn Scimeca Bonfiglio, and her husband, Nace J. Bonfiglio; a son, Dr. Dominic J. Scimeca Jr. and his wife, Sherry H. Scimeca; grandchildren, Cindy Bonfiglio Collins, David Bonfiglio and wife Dayna, Dr. Tyler Scimeca and Christy Scimeca; and great-grandchildren, David II, Jeremiah, Jennah, Gabby, Shelby and Bailey. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Frances "Teedle" Roe Lea and baby sister Beverly Roe. Friends will be received at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church in Tickfaw on Monday, Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Hank Groover, O.P., celebrant.
