She served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII tracking submarines and aircraft off the west coast. Although she never received her pilots license she loved to fly and seized every opportunity to do so during her military stay. She enjoyed cake decorating, candy making, cooking in general, sewing, gardening and fishing. She loved her family, especially spending time with her many grandchildren. She always had a smile, kind word and helping hand for anyone she met, she knew no stranger. Louise was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and loved her church member family. She earned a bachelors of science degree in education from Our Lady of Holy Cross College, a masters degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. She was named Woman of the Year by the Business and Professional Women's Association of Slidell. (GENE) William E. Scott of Hammond, native of St. Joseph, La, and a retired Corporate Pilot for Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation in Houston, Texas went to be with the Lord at his residence on April 15, 2007. He was 83. After attending Kent State University, Mr. Scott received special Preflight, Primary and Basic Pilot Training in San Antonio, Texas; Coleman, Texas and Brady Texas. Subsequently, he received Advanced Two-Engine Pilot Training in Lubbock, Texas and B-24 Transition Pilot Training in Liberal, Kansas. He was proud to have served during World War II in the United States Air Force from September 8, 1944 until January 17, 1946, where he participated in the Western Pacific Battle on May 1, 1945 and the Air Offensive Japan Campaign on May 21, 1945. He often remembered his many experiences receiving and wearing the coveted "silver wings" of a bomber pilot. Such memories as a Flying Officer with the Army Air Forces where he piloted the B-29 type aircraft while serving in both the Continental United States and in combat conditions overseas in the Western Pacific and Japan. He obtained a total of 800 flying hours, for which he was awarded numerous medals such as The Air Medal received August 15, 1945 for the Asiatic Pacific Theater; The Ribbon American Campaign Medal for service in the American theater and the World War II Victory Medal, Following his superior service to our country, Mr. Scott began his career with Texas Eastern Transmissions Corporation in Shreveport, La. then was transferred to Houston, Texas where he retired in 1985. After 39 years of marriage to his loving and devoted wife, Dorothy Scott, he leaves many precious memories. He was blessed with two sisters; Mrs. Horace (Dot) Curry of St. Joseph and Mrs. Elwood (Jane) Gould of Sulphur, Louisiana. His brother, J.W. Scott preceded him in death. He will be sadly missed by his family, many nieces, nephews and friends.
