She was 58 and a native of Columbus, Miss. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Leon Dunn. Interment in Holly Gardens Cemetery. Survived by a son, Richard F. Seaward IV, Mandeville; a stepson, Richard F. Seaward Jr., Klamath Falls, Ore.; two grandchildren, 61/2-year-old Olivia Alexandria Seaward and 2-year-old Kelby Sean Seaward; a brother, Fredrick Allen Robertson, Columbus; a niece, Shannon Colavolpe Snowden, Saltillo, Miss.; and a nephew, Joseph Colavolpe, Tupelo, Miss. Preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Seaward; parents, Milton and Virgie Olivia Davis Robertson; and a sister, Gayla Robertson Colavolpe. She earned her doctorate in education in August 1976, was recognized in the "Who's Who Among America's Teachers," was a member of the Hammond Business & Professional Club and Phi Delta Kappa since 1973 and co-founder of the Southeast Spouse Abuse Clinic. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 4/21/2002 SEAWARD, RICHARD F., SR. Richard F. Seaward Sr., a retired mechanical engineer who had served as the city's building inspector for seven years, died at his home in Hammond on Friday following an extended illness. He was 88. He was a long-time proponent of zoning and planning, both in the city of Hammond and in the parish, because it was his experience that zoning protected the property owner. Through his consulting firm, Seaward Associates, he championed homeowners' rights when he performed building inspections for banks and attorneys, as well as appraisals for various clients. He also served as an expert witness on building code regulations in the 21st and 22nd district courts, federal court and Hammond City Court. Seaward was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hammond, the North Carolina Society of Engineers and the Southern Building Code Congress International. He was a former member of the Governor's Regional Planning Commission and former member of the board of directors of the Building Officials Association of Louisiana. He was also a former member and past president of the Tangipahoa Parish Planning Commission. He was a 60-year member of the Masonic Order, first in Walhalla Lodge No. 66 AF & M, Charleston, S.C., in 1955, and then in Hammond, as a member and former Past Grand Master of No. 160 F&AM Livingston Lodge. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. The Navy presented him with two medals for bravery for saving the lives of two crewmen who were drowning. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marty Robertson Seaward, Ed.D. of Hammond; two sons, R.F. Seaward Jr. of Los Angeles and Richard Seaward IV of Mandeville; and two grandchildren. A native of Jacksonville, Fla., he was preceded in death by his father and mother, Richard and Maude Jeffcoat Seaward, and his baby sister, Lois Seaward of Jacksonville. Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond. The Rev. Ricky Willis, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will conduct the service at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. A private burial service will follow. The Seaward family has requested that memorial gifts be given to the building fund at First United Methodist Church, 2200 Rue Denise, Hammond, 70403, in lieu of flowers ***************************************************************************
