SHAPPERT, CATHERINE CLARE 

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - Catherine Clare Shappert, 68, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, 
at her home. She was a native of Baton Rouge, a graduate of Southeastern High 
School in Hammond, and a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana College and 
Louisiana State University. She was a teacher at Lake Charles High School 
before taking a position in the biology division of the Oak Ridge National 
Laboratory where she also worked as a technical editor. She was president of 
the Dance Club, Church Women United, and secretary of the Diabetes Association 
at Methodist Medical Center and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. 
Survivors include her husband, Larry B. Shappert of Oak Ridge; two daughters, 
Susan Saliba of Dayton, Ohio, and Becky Luther of Bristol, Tenn.; two sons, 
Stephen Shappert of Commercial Point, Ohio, and Christopher Shappert of 
Suwanee, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Susan Forbes of Norris, 
Tenn., and Carol Clark of Asheville, N.C. Her parents, Roy E. Hyde and Elaine 
Lorio Hyde, preceded her in death. Visitation will be today at Weatherford 
Mortuary, Oak Ridge, from 6 until a scripture service at 8 p.m. The Rev. Michael 
Woods will conduct the funeral Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Oak Ridge, 
at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Memorials may be made 
to the American Diabetes Association or the Make A Wish Foundation. Weatherford 
Mortuary, Oak Ridge, Tenn., is in charge.
