He was 82 and a native of Wesson, Miss. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday. Religious service at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Wiggins, Miss. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Voncile S. Shiel, Ponchatoula; a son, James "Jimmy" V. Shiel Jr.; a brother, Royce N. Shiel, Brookhaven, Miss.; three sisters, Myra S. Martin, Brookhaven, India S. Baker, Jacksonville, Fla., and Mary S. Jenson, Estacada, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, George Henry Shiel; mother, Naomi S. Morgan; two brothers, Eldon Shiel and Lloyd Morgan; and two sisters, Lou Emily Nations and Virginia Morris. He was a member and past president of the Ponchatoula Rotary Club. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of World War II serving two tours of duty. He was a retired teacher, principal, guidance counselor and Ponchatoula High School football coach. ***************************************************************************
