Sikkink, age 64, a resident of Hammond, died on Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, after complications from surgery. Mr. Sikkink was born in the Village of Preston, Minn., where he enjoyed his youth until attending college at Central College in Central, Iowa. He obtained a bachelor's degree in business administration and was active in varsity sports and lettered in football. He then furthered his education at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, earning a masters in economics. Mr. Sikkink enjoyed a long and successful career of more than 30 years in the commodities industry cumulating in the executive ranks. Upon retirement, Mr. Sikkink remained active as a small business owner in the residential construction and commercial retail industries, while managing his investment portfolio. He was also an adviser to other small business owners in his local community. Mr. Sikkink is survived by his wife of 19 years, Patricia Gonzales Englade Sikkink; his mother, Mrs. Venita Testroete Sikkink of Greenleafton, Minn.; two brothers, John Sikkink of Apple Valley, Minn., and Jim Sikkink of McAllen, Texas; and three sisters, Dorothy Dykstra of Des Moines, Suzanne Sikkink of Dallas, and Arlys Sikkink of Des Moines. He is also survived by five children, Tyra Sikkink of Evansville, Ind., Tami Sikkink of Memphis, Tenn., Tina Jostson of Milwaukee, Traci Sikkink of Los Angles, and Tim Sikkink of Tampa Bay, Fla. Mr. Sikkink's stepchildren also survive him, Diedre E. Whitaker of The Woodlands, Texas, Heidi E. Sutton of LaPlace, Dale W. Englade of Robert, and David Paul Englade of Hammond. Mr. Sikkink also has three grandchildren and nine stepgrandchildren Relatives and friends of the family will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, with visitation from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church on E. Pine St. in Ponchatoula, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, followed by interment in Rose Memorial Cemetery in Hammond. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge): 4/16/2009 SIKKINK, PATRICIA CECILE Patricia Cecile Sikkink, born on St. Patrick's Day 1942, died Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, at home in Hammond surrounded by her family. Pat, the daughter of the late Sydney B. Gonzales and Mary Cecile Cambre, was born in Garyville. Twice widowed, husbands, Dale W. Englade and Gary A. Sikkink, preceded her in death. She is survived by five brothers, Sydney, Leonard, Kenneth, Donald and Terry; and her children, Diedre Whitaker, of The Woodlands, Texas, Heidi Sutton, Dale Englade Jr. and David Englade, of Hammond. She is also survived by five stepchildren, Tyra Sikkink, Tami Sikkink, Tina Jostson, Traci Sikkink and Tim Sikkink; nine grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren. After raising her children, Pat studied nursing in Minneapolis. Returning to Louisiana, she continued nursing and became an independent business woman, involved with various businesses with her late husband, Gary, and son, David. She stayed active traveling and enjoying her grandchildren. Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, on Friday, April 17, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Funeral Mass at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Hammond, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Hank Groover, O.P. Interment in Rose Memorial Cemetery, Hammond.
