She was born on February 13th, 1926 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana to William Bain Mounce and Hester Lou Bency Rushing. Clara was the beloved wife of Earl Singletary, Jr. and the mother of 5 beautiful children. She has served the Lord since age 13 and was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church 68 years ago, where she will now be laid to her final resting place. Clara was preceded in death by her father William Bain Mounce, mother Hester Lou Bency Rushing, brother Clarence ³Buck² Mounce, sister Gracie Coates, husband Earl Singletary, Jr., daughter Barbara Gail Reid, and son Jack Wilburn Reid. She is survived by 3 brothers: Carl Mounce & wife Ruby, Marvin Mounce & wife Glenda, Howard Mounce & wife Annette; 1 sister: Bernice Bigner; 1 son: Lloyd B. Reid, Jr. & wife Becky; 2 daughters: Peggy King and Geraldine Moore; 10 grand- children: Melody Reid, Wesley Reid, Gwendolyn Caskey & husband Wayne, Rene Keene, Laurie Cannon & husband Tim, Angie Jackson & husband Brian, Clint Moore & wife Amanda, Brian Reid & wife Amber, John Michael Reid, and Valarie Jones & husband Scott; 14 great-grandchildren: Shaun Caskey, Jeremy Caskey, Charissa Caskey, Christopher Caskey, Kyle Caskey, Tony Westmoreland, Frank Cannon, Summer Cannon, Seth Jackson, Alex Jackson, Destiny Moore, Lucas Reid, Lauryn Reid, and Ashley Huckey ; and 1 great- great-granddaughter: Addie Caskey; as well as many other relatives and friends. AMANT - Mary Stevens Singletary, 96, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Golden Age Nursing Home, Denham Springs. She was a native of Brignac, a retired lunchroom worker with 28 years of service with Gonzales schools and a charter member of Faithful United Methodist Church and a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit No. 81, Gonzales. Visitation will be at Welsh Funeral Home, Gonzales, tonight from 5 to 9 and Thursdayat Faithful United Methodist Church, St. Amant, from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jeff Duke and the Rev.
