He was a native of Mt. Carmel, Ill. Survivors include one son, Norman W. Skaggs of Matoon, Ill.; two daughters, Patricia S. Stricklin and Terry S. Deokaran, both of Hammond; four grandchildren and and two great-grandchildren. His wife, Virginia Lemke Skaggs; and his parents, Amos and Nora Seaton Skaggs, preceded her in death. Visitation will be Sunday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 11 a.m. until the Rev. Robert Mader conducts the funeral at 2. Visitation will also be Sept. 25 at Short Cunningham Funeral Home, Mt. Carmel, Ill., from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 11. Burial will be at Highland Memorial, Mt. Carmel, Ill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Pre School, 707 W. She was 68 and a native of Amite. Visitation at First United Methodist Church, Amite, from 10:30 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Bill Willis. Interment in Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite. Survived by her husband, Hiram A. Skaggs, Diamondhead; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Brenda Skaggs, San Antonio, and Jeff and Peggy Skaggs, Katy, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Phil Scurria, Vicksburg, Miss.; and four grandchildren, Greg Scurria, Mary Clare Scurria, Michael Skaggs and Bradley Scurria. Preceded in death by her parents, Issac and Lucille Case; and a brother, Robert W. Case. She was a member of Diamondhead Women's Golf Associaton, Diamondhead Community Church and Philanthropic Education Organization.
