He was born on Sunday, February 18, 1940, in Tennessee, son of the late Charles E. Slagle and Bertha Bowling Slagle. He was a retired Taxidermist. Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Mary E. Derks Slagle; 5 children, Joann S. Anderson, Russell Slagle, David Slagle, Jerry Slagle, and Charles Slagle; 3 sisters, Vera S. Davidson, Billie Sue Lannom, and Wanda S. Meade; numerous grandchildren; one great-grandchild, Kaitlyn Frys. He is preceded in death by first wife, Angie Kubinski Slagle; 2nd wife, Edna Williams Slagle; sister, Lois S. Edmonds; 2 brothers, Judge and Bobby Slagle; and step father, Cecil Miracle. Friends will be received Friday, May 1, 2009, at the Harry McKneely & Son - Ponchatoula, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Saturday, after 8 a.m until services at 11 a.m. with Rev.Leo Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Bedico Community Cemetery, Ponchatoula.
