John was a member of First Baptist Church, Carrollton, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Marjorie Slaton. Johnny is survived by his wife, Donna Slaton, Carrollton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Jon Hendrickson, Oakdale, Calif., and Kandice and Spencer Hughes, Flower Mound, Texas; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brandon and Megan Slaton, Lawton, Okla., and Chance Slaton, Carrollton. He was guardian of Bryce Eason, grandfather to Joshua Hendrickson, Slaton and Sibley Hughes, brother of Gaynell and Edith Slaton, Hammond, and Terry and Deborah Slaton, Haltom City, Texas, son-in-law of Alma Cubbage, Hammond, nephew of Juliet and Katherine Braithwaite, Baton Rouge, and uncle of many loved nieces and nephews. A celebration of John's life will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at Sparkman/Dickey Funeral Home Chapel, 17501 N. Dallas Parkway, Dallas, with Dr. Brent Taylor and Chaplain Carl Thorell officiating. Born Feb. 6, 1943, in Baton Rouge, Terry died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Baylor All Saints in Fort Worth, Texas, after a long illness. Terry is survived by his wife, Deborah; four children, Terry Slaton Jr., of North Richland Hills, Texas, Vickie Barbour, of Tulsa, Okla., Kimberly Dempsey, of Fort Worth, and Teddi Slaton, of Haltom City, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Linda Slaton; sons-in-law, Anthony Barbour and Ronald Dempsey; and three grandchildren, Emily Slaton, of Saginaw, and Andrew and Lindsey Chonody, of Euless, Texas. He is also survived by an older brother, Gaynell and wife Edie, of Hammond; sister-in-law, Donna Slaton, of Flower Mound, Texas; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Terry was a graduate of Glen Oaks High School in Baton Rouge. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1961 at age 18 and served four years for his country. Terry and his family moved to Fort Worth in 1980 to help build a family business and made his home here for 30 years. Visitation at Calvary Lutheran Church in Richland Hills on Monday, March 29, from noon until service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery in Colleyville.
