LEWIS H. Lewis Smith, 80 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away, Saturday, April 27, 2013, at his residence. He was born on Thursday, April 13, 1933, in Hammond, La., son of the late German Smith and the late Louise Smith. Lewis was retired from the United States Air Force as Lieutenant Colonel, serving in Vietnam War along with other domestic and international tours of duty. He also served on the Tangipahoa Parish Industrial Development Board and The Louisiana State Airport Commission. He is survived by son, Michael Lewis Smith and daughter-in-law Susan Barrett Smith of New Orleans, Louisiana; son, Gary Lewis Smith and daughter-in-law Julie Stoney Smith of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughter, Amanda Smith Short and son-in-law Kelsey Short of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; grandchildren, H. Lewis Smith II , Kaitlin Short and Eryn Short, Erica Stoney of Scottsdale and great granddaughter Jenny Lynn Maszk. The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the veterans support group of your choice.
